DESIGN + BUILD Studio

A practice of permanence, craft, and humble beauty

  • Fort Worth, TX

Our Vision

Alexandria Rhodes is a family-led design + build studio in Fort Worth devoted to creating spaces that nurture the human spirit.

We believe the built environment is the physical expression of culture, and thus how we shape our spaces matters. Our buildings should deepen our connection to land, neighbor, and that which is greater than ourselves — strengthening relationships rather than fragmenting them.

A built world centered on beauty expresses to its inhabitants that they have dignity. In a city increasingly marked by speed and disposability, we are committed to permanence, craft, and a humble beauty meant for daily life.

We are beginning with small, carefully built structures — backyard additions such as garden sheds, detached offices, and creative studios — as a way of practicing these principles at a human scale. From there, we intend to grow into larger works shaped by the same commitments.

Our work is centered on ordinary life: spaces people wish to keep, care for, and pass down.

Principles

Humble Beauty

We design for daily ritual, quiet dignity, and ordinary joys at the human scale.

Harmony & Relationship

Our spaces are ordered toward right relationship: building, land, & neighbor.

Craft & Natural Material

We partner with skilled craftsmen & prioritize materials that deepen feeling.

Rootedness

Our designs are shaped by the land, climate, and cultural memory.

Human Health

We build to support human vigor and sincere belonging.

Permanence

We prize generational value and endurance, not short-term return.

Current Stage

The studio is currently in the foundational phase as we lay the groundwork for our first projects.

We are putting the business in order — refining our offerings and process, securing insurance, and forming relationships with the craftsmen and tradespeople who are aligned with this vision. Additionally, we are developing opportunities for hands-on education for professionals and volunteers alike, including small-scale projects and workshops focused on natural building techniques.

We are also seeking our first clients, those who are interested in having small, carefully built structures shaped by these principles in their own backyards. Our initial projects take the form of residential additions such as beautiful garden sheds, detached offices, and small hobby workshops designed for daily use.

This stage is about assembling the right people and conditions so that when we begin, we build well from the start.
